Welcome at BalSiaManOri, welcome at our homepage!

Before you dive down deep into the world of beautiful oriental cats (Balinese,Siamese,Mandarin and Oriental Shorthair) we want to introduce ourselves. We are breeders and fans, who were seduced by the charme of oriental cats and wanted to create a public forum, giving more people the opportunity to get in touch with each other. We want more peple to know about the oriental cats- keeping the cats under the best conditions, knowing about their needs, their very special characters, possible problems and their solution.

The breeder amongst us are fans in the first place. The members who are "just" fans are those, who try to be most objektive about breeders, exchanging their experiences and sharing them with other interested lovers of the oriental breeds. If you plan to adopt a kitten, talking to some of our fan- members could be helpful. You may get a recommendation and most certain a statement what you can or have to expect. The breeders on the other hand will try to be helpful with every problem that comes up. We want to exchange experiences, clean - whereever it is possible - up with taboos
and try to treat each other with respect.

We accept everybody as a member who feels commitment towards our breed , independent of the breeding organisation he/she is registered with. We try to guarantee the seriosity of our breeders. That is why we have the status of "tentative membership", to make sure that the member-to-be is seriously interested in our work and not just looking for one more chance to get his cattery represented in the www. We have rules and statutes which have to be accepted and give us the chance to cancel the membership, if necessary. This may sound strange or even arrogant, but nowadays you find lots of "black sheep" in the Cat Fancy, who should not be registered with us.

On our homepage we offer an info portal. You will find lots of interesting topics there. If you can`t find what you want, you will at least find links which takes you further. There is the chance to ask about many themes and to share anger, joy, sadness, pride and so many different feelings you have, living with an oriental cat. Hopefully we can install a chat-room.

Every year we publish three or four issues of our "Journal", a mixture of interesting themes from health to exhibitions, from food to safety, from law to the recommendation of places to go for a holiday with your cat and of course stories and photographs just for fun.
Breeders have the chance to introduce their Cattery, show their latest kitten and introduce their Sires.

If you want more information, don`t hesitate to send a mail or ring up a member, who may be lives close to you to have a conversation and may be meet some extraordinary cats.

The Executive Board of BalSiaManOri
Dennis Pomrehn (Chairman )

First of all: Siamese Cats are my passion! My interest in BSMO started - of course- with a simple membership. Then I started to commit myself more and at least I became chairman of BSMO in November 2002. Working as a congress- and eventmanager I am used to work with lots of people, to sort out their different intensions and interests and to try to get those together.
That is what I want to try too in BSMO.When I had the chance to become chairman there were more reasons against it than for it, but in the end I decided to accept the challenge to coordinate and bunch the interests of so many people, to organize common activities and to take the opportunity to "move" something. It is an advance to be familiar with the new media to move on informations fast and more effective, but it is absolutely necessary to get support and cooperation by the members. I am deeply convinced that the joint action of the Board and the members will help BSMO to become what is also my personal intension : an association of
people, who have one big aim in common:
to make Oriental Cats better known and understood. That is what I am standing for.
With kindest regards

Dennis Pomrehn

Silke Wismann ( Vice chairman )

Refined, cheeky, affectionate, talkative, noisy, playful, arrogant, charming, obstrusive and last but not least extremely lovable. These are expressions describing the oriental breeds. I read something like this in my very first cat book. Two sentences that fascinated me and which came to my mind over and over again. Ny name is Silke Wismann, I was born in 1968, I am married and mother of one daughter. I work as a self-employed midwife in Neuss / Germany. I breed Siamese since 1995 and later the silver Oriental Longhair followed. I am not only fascinated by these cats but also very interested in everything around the birth of kittens and of course I try to find out if my job experience is also useful in this regard. I am mainly interested in an open and friendly contact with other breeders and I hope that I will be able to initiate discussions via my position that are beneficial for our cats. I am very curious about the future.

Yours
Silke Wismann

Alexa von Bargen (Treasurer)

Dear members,
Many members know me already, for the newbies I would like give a short introduction: My name is Alexa von Bargen, aged 37 and I am cat owner and breeder for 10 years. I am not only occupied with our private farm and petting zoo - we also breed saker falcons, which is very time-intensive due to the hunting and flying training. Nevertheless I again agreed to accept a Balsiamanori board position this year, a position that - to tell the truth - noone else wanted. The treasurer position. Due to a lack of time I was not able to carry on my former position as an editor of the magazine, so from now on I am your treasurer and hope that I only need to print statements of account, manage funds and never have to send reminders.
Best regards
Alexa von Bargen

Stefanie Ahrens (Secretary)

Though I stopped breeding balinese after 7 years in 2005, I still very much like to communicate with other breeders and oriental lovers. And of course I am still owned by my two siamese and balinese oldies. Therefore it was natural that I wanted to continue my work in the BSMO board, however my profile has changed during the last years. Due to a lack of time I am not able to do the editorial work anymore, but I am now responsible for the maintenance of our homepage and for english translations. I look forward to receiving your feedback and recommendations in the future!

Best wishes
Stefanie Ahrens

Stefanie Döring ( Extended Board, Assessor )

Dear BSMO Members,
I am now working in the BSMO board fort wo years and would like to give you a short introduction: I was born in 1960, I work as a commercial clerk, I am the mother of an adult son and we own 3 dogs, several cats and a varying number of dsungarian dwarf hamsters (cat cinema). I breed purebred cats since 1984 and before I started to breed Siamese and Oriental Shorthair in 1999 I worked with Persians and Exotic Shorthair. I am BSMO member since the year 2000 and at somewhere along the way I thought: If you want to break new ground in our group of interest you have to contribute your thoughts and ideas and try to put them into action - and I became member of the board sooner than expected ;-) From the members I expect contibutions, ideas, improvement suggestions etc. etc. because our group of interest needs the constructive cooperation, not a "wait and see" mentality.

Best regards
Stefanie Döring
