The Balinese Cat is the semi- long-haired "sister" of the Siamese
Cat.
She is told to have all the positive attributes of the Siamese without
being so demanding.Lovers and breeders assure, that she is even more tender
and not as "noisy" as her shorthaired relatives.
The Breeding Standard
of the Balinese equals
that of the Siamese Cat, only the length of the coat is of course different.
For the colours the same definitions are used. As for the Siamese Cats
in the USA only the four ground-colours seal-, blue-, chocolate- and lilac-point
are accepted for Balineses. Cats who carry a different colour are called
"Javanese".
Even if the Standaed is equal: for Balinese- lovers the cats look softer,
more substantial. Striking is the long, feathery tail.To live with a Balinese
Cat you need the conditions a Siamese needs as well. Beside warmth and
cosiness, she is satisfied with cat food of high quality and a little
bit of cooked chicken as an extra treat from time to time. You can keep
her as an indoor-cat, if you offer her enough entertainment, but if possible,
she likes to go out into the garden or on a safe balcony.
Her coat is easy to
look after. She probably likes ist to be brushed and combed, but she does
not really need it. Under her soft and silky hair she does not have the
thick layer of warming hair like Maine Coon or Norwegian Forrest Cats.Like
Siameses they are not especially prone to any diseases. They can easily
become very old when you look after her carefully.
